This is structurally sound and still very beautiful, but has a few dull marks in the varnish. We think it suffered from the extreme difference in temperature between stifling, humid Yangon and our rather chilly Welsh warehouse. Some trapped moisture, probably beneath the varnish, has caused it to go cloudy in some areas. This may not bother you, but if it does, here are some ideas to try (at your own risk!):
Try the hair-dryer trick – Set a hairdryer to low heat and wave it over the affected area to evaporate trapped moisture. Alternatively, place a clean cotton cloth over the spot and briefly apply a warm (not hot) iron in short bursts.
Use petroleum jelly – Rub a small amount over the cloudy area and let it sit for a few hours before wiping clean. This can help lift moisture.
Apply a mild solvent – If the cloudiness persists, lightly rubbing with mineral spirits or a mix of vinegar and olive oil - this can sometimes help restore clarity.
Recoat or refinish – If the damage is extensive, lightly sanding and reapplying a fresh coat of varnish may be necessary.
