Solitaire

This Solitaire board is made from Burmese rain wood. The balls are tiny pieces of clay, dipped in layers and layers of natural lacquer, a sap which oozes from Burmese lacquer trees. They are tactile and wonderful.

This is as much about the beauty of the board, the pieces and the craft as it is about the game: holding the pieces in your hand, rolling them around the edge and making patterns out of the colours is part of the point.

But of course, it's also a game. A game you can play on your own, no less, if the mayhem of Christmas isn’t for you. Lighting a candle, watching terrible telly and mindlessly playing solitaire is, actually, the perfect winter evening.
