Draughts

Every afternoon, outside my home in Yangon, two old men played draughts. Their board was a scrap of cardboard marked out in chalk. Their pieces were bottle tops. They played with impressive intensity, every single day.

Our version is a little more robust than theirs. The board is pieced together from offcuts of wood in two different colours, and the draughts are similar. They're tactile and beautiful, and as you study each you'll see the marks of the maker's tools. This is a magic transformation of scrap wood given a new life, ready to become part of yours, and of all the Christmasses to come.
